With the possibility of inclement weather on the horizon, APS would like to remind our families on how we will communicate a school closure. We will utilize our text messaging/call out system, school Facebook page, notifications on the school app, live feed on the school webpage, as well as local news stations (Channels 4, 5, 9, 25 & NewsOK.com). If you are not receiving text messages, be sure you have not opted out. To re-engage text messages, text start to 98900 or email Amy Loggins at [email protected] to ensure the correct information is on file. A text message went out to families earlier today. If you did not receive it we either do not have the correct information on file or the number on file has opted out. To receive notifications on the app, be sure you have downloaded the Alex Public School App from the app store and have notifications switched to on through the app and your phone settings.

We always appreciate our community who shows up for all of our programs. Today, Sunday Jan. 7th, was another example of amazing support provided to the boys basketball team. Thank you all for the donations and for letting us serve you. We have the best Longhorn family.
One of our 8th graders, with the Sunflower Project, would like to help some our community members who might be in need of some winter gear. Isabel Bates is looking for new or gently used coats, gloves, hats etc. If you have some to donate, please bring them to the high school office by January 16th. If you know of anyone in the community who might need these items please let Mrs. Byrne or Mrs. Boatwright know. The gear will be distributed January 18th. If you have questions you can contact Cyndi Bates. It's always a great day to be a Longhorn.

Alex Little League is hosting signups for the upcoming baseball season on Thursday & Friday night from 5 to 7 during the Longhorn Classic. Cost to play is $45 with a discount for multiple ballplayers! For questions contact Ryan Reeves or Steven Burton.

Attention seniors, The FAFSA is open but it is a soft launch meaning they have certain times it's unavailable. It has changed from the previous years. Parents and students will need an FSA ID. Go to Alex webpage, counselor corner, higher to get the link to apply. Be watching for a FAFSA night hosted at the high school.

We hope you all have had a wonderful holiday break! We are excited to see everyone back in person this week. Staff only will return on January 2nd, students will be at school on January 3rd & 4th, Friday January 5th will be a virtual day.

The Junior High Choir spread joy tonight as they sang for residents in care facilities around the Chickasha area. They sang a piece from their Christmas concert, as well as several carols and passed out cards, smiles, and Holiday wishes to each of the residents. Longhorns making a difference!
