The Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence has selected Mrs. Renee Smith, 5th grade teacher at Alex Elementary, as a Colonial Williamsburg Teacher Institute fellow. In June 2025, Mrs. Smith will attend a week-long series of learning experiences in Williamsburg, VA, where she will explore the world's largest living history museum. She will meet character interpreters of the 18th century, learn primary source-centered historical content, and collaborate daily with fellow educators to explore interactive techniques to teach U.S. history. These experiences will enrich the education of 5th-grade students at Alex Elementary School for years to come. We are grateful to the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence for choosing Mrs. Smith as a fellow and look forward to the knowledge our students and staff will learn from her as a result of this experience. Congratulations, Mrs. Smith.
