Good evening APS families: Due to incoming inclement weather, Alex Public School will be closed Monday, January 22, 2024. School and Monday evenings' games are cancelled. We hope you all are able to stay safe and warm.
Alex 4-H will be "Passing the Bucket" today during half-time of the girls basketball game to raise money for the OK Children's Hospital Foundation through our Change for Change service project. We greatly appreciate all of the community support each year. Thank you! ~Alex 4-H
Alex Little League will be hosting the last sign ups this Thursday January 18th from 5-6:30. Cost is $45 to play. Come out sign up for baseball and watch the Grady County Tournament.
3rd and 4th basketball pictures will be taken on January 26th during their athletic hour. Order forms will be going home this week or you can pick up extras in the Elem. Office.
Don't forget to bring your winter gear today, January 17th! We will take gently used or new coats, hats, gloves etc. Isabel is ready to help keep our community members warm.
Alex is hosting the high school Grady county tournament this year. Games begin tomorrow:

Please do not sign up for Tuesday, the bank has volunteered to help on that day. We will also be needing people to work the T-shirt table, where we will be selling Grady County Tournament T-shirts. We will not have any of our teams playing Monday so that will be a great opportunity for players to get their time in!

Just a reminder Monday, January 15th, is a school holiday. There will be no classes for students and staff. With the possibility of inclement weather on the horizon, APS would like to remind our families on how we will communicate a school closure. We will utilize our text messaging/call out system, school Facebook page, notifications on the school app, live feed on the school webpage, as well as local news stations (Channels 4, 5, 9, 25 & NewsOK.com). If you are not receiving text messages, be sure you have not opted out. To re-engage text messages, text start to 98900 or email Amy Loggins at [email protected] to ensure the correct information is on file. A text message went out to families earlier today. If you did not receive it we either do not have the correct information on file or the number on file has opted out. To receive notifications on the app, be sure you have downloaded the Alex Public School App from the app store and have notifications switched to on through the app and your phone settings.
Don't forget about the winter gear drive going on right now. Bring gently used or new coats, hats, gloves etc to the high school office.
Correction on the previous message about little league sign ups. They are Friday, January 12th. Same time but the date was wrong.
There is another opportunity to get your child signed up for baseball. Alex Little League sign ups are Friday, December 12th, in the commons area from 5:30-6:30 pm. This is for ages from 5u Tball all the way to 12u kid pitch! Come join Alex Little League Baseball.

We always appreciate our community who shows up for all of our programs. Today, Sunday Jan. 7th, was another example of amazing support provided to the boys basketball team. Thank you all for the donations and for letting us serve you. We have the best Longhorn family.
One of our 8th graders, with the Sunflower Project, would like to help some our community members who might be in need of some winter gear. Isabel Bates is looking for new or gently used coats, gloves, hats etc. If you have some to donate, please bring them to the high school office by January 16th. If you know of anyone in the community who might need these items please let Mrs. Byrne or Mrs. Boatwright know. The gear will be distributed January 18th. If you have questions you can contact Cyndi Bates. It's always a great day to be a Longhorn.
