Friday was a big day at APS! Junior high and high school students wrapped up Red Ribbon Week with a moving account from Jamie Ayer, the sister of Diana Boatwright, about her experience after being hit by a driver under the influence. Students were also served lunch by Officer Rhyne and Bridge Creek's SRO Hogan. Then, we welcomed elementary students and their families for Trick the Halls before having our weekly Fight Song Friday! Days like these are fun for everyone - thanks to everyone who made it happen!

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This year we will be having a Food Drive to help provide for our students and families who may need these items for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Alex Schools will have a competition to see who can bring the most non-perishable food items for the Food Drive. Items that would be used for Thanksgiving dinner are encouraged. Examples include canned green beans and corn, chicken broth, cranberry sauce, cream of mushroom soup, dessert mixes, canned fruit, instant mashed potatoes, Jell-O, pie crust mix, pie filling, stuffing mix, canned sweet potatoes, turkey gravy, and French-fried onions.
We will begin the Food Drive on Monday, October 30th, and it will run through Monday, November 13th.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR FAMILY TO BE INCLUDED AS RECIPIENTS, please fill out the form sent home with elementary students and return it by Friday, November 1st. There are additional copies of the form in the high school and elementary offices if needed.
Thank you all for your continued support of our school!
Sincerely,
Doug Tolson & Nicole Bauman

Today was the reveal for the shirt designed for Parker Ross-Underwood, an Alex fifth grader fighting an aggressive cholesteatoma. TSA members Jaydanne Landeros, Kendyll Dunn, and Nashaya Jackson presented the shirt to Parker and the 5th grade class, taught by Mrs. Smith. These shirts will be for sale for $20 at the carnival for anyone who would like one. This money will go towards Parker’s medical bills and travel expenses as he and his mom travel to MD Anderson. For anyone who would like to do a direct donation, there is an account set up at First National Bank. We appreciate all of the enthusiasm so far from our king and queen candidates. It's been a lot of fun seeing the creativity from candidates in support of their fellow Longhorn. Winners of the king and queen contest will be announced at the carnival on Saturday night!

Come join us for Bingo this Saturday!

Make sure to order your yearbook before the price increases! Order online through the link on the APS website or pick up an order form in the HS/Elem. office. Yearbooks are $45.00 but the price increases after Nov. 3rd.

We would like to acknowledge Isabel Bates for her recent visit to the state capital of Oklahoma. Ms. Bates was recognized for her Bully Prevention initiative and our state leaders proclaimed that October 18th be recognized as "Bully Prevention Day" in our state. In addition to this recognition, our elementary students would like to extend our gratitude to Ms. Bates for sharing her knowledge and expertise during our national bully prevention week here at APS. We are always proud of our Longhorns, but even more so when they are striving to make a difference. Keep shining Isabel!

Students taking the ACT will need a school chromebook. No personal devices allowed.

We have 3 students who are ambassadors at the Canadian Valley Tech Center. They, along with other ambassadors, came to speak to our sophomores about the programs offered at CVTC. We are so proud of Ethan Compton, Saydi Swanson, and Tatum Sanders. They did a great job with their presentations.
