Reminder: Friday, Dec. 19th, is an early release day. Elementary car line can begin at 2:10, MS/HS will be released at 2:20 to load buses, buses will leave HS at 2:25 to load at the elementary. Santa's Workshop will be open in Alex Elementary from 12-15 to 12-19. Students will have the opportunity to shop for gifts for their family and friends. Prices range from $0.25 tp $3.

Christmas pictures at ALEX the morning of DECEMBER 9th This is the new background this year and we'll be adding in snow trees! PLEASE NOTE: YOU CANNOT ORDER BY MESSAGING US. ONLY STUDENTS ORDERING WILL BE PHOTOGRAPHED AND THOSE STUDENTS MUST HAVE SOME SORT OF WRITTEN ORDER TO BE PULLED FROM CLASS. WE CANNOT PULL STUDENTS OUT OF CLASS OURSELVES. PreK-5th grade students all got a form to bring home. 6th-12th grade students will need to grab a form from their buildings office if they need one. These are individual student pictures. At the closing of the Oklahoma Board of Education Filing last week, the Alex Board of Education had one individual file for the seat 1 position which is up for election this coming year.

Mr. Jonathan Mills filed for the seat and will be sworn into the position unopposed at the end of the current term. Jonathan and his wife Samantha are raising their three children in the Alex Community.

Recently, Alex Public School Board of Education appointed Mr. Devery Pettit to fill seat 2, which was left vacant earlier this fall. Deverey and his wife Lauren are raising their two children in the Alex Community.

Congratulations to these two individuals. We appreciate your willingness to serve on the Alex Board of Education.

Music education and the arts are alive and well in Alex, OK and it has been a great and busy weekend! On Friday, 8 students- Rey Smith, Iris Thao, Cameron Lewis, Dodge Abel, Daisy Mainka, Faith Sherwood, Evelyn Jester, and Lillie Alcorn performed in the OU Vocal Workshops and put on a great concert as men's and women's groups separately and then joined together at the end to sing with close to 400 students! Then last night, the Longhorn Drumline, cymbals Daisy Mainka, Rogue Thao, Kinsley Stroud, Reina Smith, and Bailey Ford, tenors Marleigh Rodriguez and Kedric Harwell, basses Parker Serrano-Anderson, Jennifer Martinez, Cameron Lewis, and Parker Ross-Underwood, and snares Dru Serrano-Anderson, Kylie Owings, Evelyn Jester, and Dodge Abel all marched in the mile-long annual Chickasha Christmas Parade. They have been some great musical ambassadors for our school and community this weekend and we are very proud of them! Great job, Longhorn Musicians!

We will present a “Sounds of the Season” vocal music concert! This concert will be for ALL Pk-4th grade students and for 5-12 JH/HS Mixed Choir. This is a vocal only concert, so drumline students will not be on this concert (unless they're in the choirs).
All students have worked hard for this for weeks. Please make it urgent that your child attend both performances! Please remember that for our Alex JH/HS Mixed Choir, these two performances comprise a large portion of their entire class grade, as it is all that we work toward during our class. The 2 pm concert is an informal dress rehearsal that is open to those audience members who may want to watch or may not want to drive at night. The 7 pm performance is our formal performance. For the 2:00, your child does not have to wear anything special, it is informal. For the 7:00 -- please just wear red and green festive church-style dress. For all, PLEASE NO HATS OR HEADGEAR, ANTLERS, ANTENNAS, ETC., so that singers behind you are not blocked from view by their families. JH/HS mixed choir, please wear very nice Sunday style dress, red and green colors are preferred but not required.
