The Alex Livestock judging team started out Monday at NOC in Tonkawa, Okla. at the Sheep Field Day. The Senior 4-H Team placed first. Hays Heldermon brought home 2nd overall honors while Kayla Venable brought home 3rd Overall.

The Longhorn Football team have seats available for the upcoming season. This costs $50 per seat, allows you in all home games for Junior High and High School free, and your name will be on the seats you purchase. Alex Public Schools would like to welcome two new staff members: Ms. Courtney Shaffer & Ms. Elizabeth Paulus to APS.

Ms. Courtney Shaffer is from Lindsay, Oklahoma; she is joining our staff as an elementary teacher. She graduated from Cameron University in December 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. In 2020, she returned to Cameron University, where she earned her Master of Education Degree in Reading. Ms. Shaffer went on to become a certified Reading Specialist. For the past seven years, she has taught Pre-K in Maysville, Oklahoma. Ms. Shaffer currently lives in Lindsay and has two cats, two dogs, and two horses. She loves being around her animals and family, and enjoys helping with her parents' cattle business. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, sewing, hiking with her boyfriend, and going on trail rides with her horses. She is thrilled about the opportunity to teach at Alex Public School, and looks forward to being part of the community.

Ms. Elizabeth Paulus was born in Lawton, Oklahoma. She started kindergarten at Community Christian School in Norman, Oklahoma, where she graduated in 2008. Ms. Paulus attended college at SWOSU in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and received an Associate of Science General Studies degree. Ms. Paulus was married in November 2010 to John Paulus, and they have two children together: Raelyn and Waden. After supporting her husband's dream of becoming a firefighter, she returned to school and earned an Associate of Respiratory Care degree from OCCC. She has worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Norman Regional Hospital for the past nine years. Ms. Pualus will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts, with a minor in Psychology, in December 2025, while working as a paraprofessional at Alex Public School. She plans to sit for her teacher certification in the Summer of 2026. Her hobbies include her children’s activities, crafting, leading Bible studies, gardening, and reading.

Alex Public Schools is excited to welcome these two new staff members to APS. It's a great day to be a Longhorn!

Alex Public Schools would like to welcome two of our newest staff members: Coach Jaylee Willis and Coach Austin Albright. Coach Willis is from Latta, OK, and is currently a senior at USAO in Chickasha. She plays softball for USAO; while majoring in physical education and kinesiology. In her free time, she enjoys attending church, going to the lake, working out, and spending time with her family. Coach Willis has been a part of many successful teams both in high school and in college. While in high school, she was part of 6 state softball tournament appearances (3 fast pitch & 3 slow pitch), winning state in fast pitch. USAO has made appearances at the softball College World Series twice while she has been a college athlete on the team. She has earned many accolades including All-State Softball and All-SAC second team. Coach Willis is excited for this new opportunity and can’t wait to meet everyone! Coach Albright is from Chickasha Oklahoma where he earned the honor of being named a Valedictorian for the Class of 2020. He played three sports while in high school and was fortunate to be named an All-Stater in baseball and football his senior year. After high school, he attended Eastern Oklahoma State College for two years where he played baseball and graduated with an associate's degree in Business Administration. After earning his associate's degree, he attended OBU where he studied athletic coaching and played baseball. His final two years were spent at Northeastern State where he played baseball and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Health & Human Performance. In his spare time, Coach Albright enjoys golfing, hunting, and helping his family with their farming/ranching operation. Coach Albright is excited for this year and helping out the Alex Longhorns. APS is excited to have these two new members of our staff. It's a great day to be a Longhorn!

OSSAA Dead Period information. All athletic fields, gyms and facilities will be closed to our athletes grades 7th-12th during the dead period.

Don't forget to apply for Oklahoma's Promise. A new law passed for educators' kids to receive OHLAP. The deadline for 2026 seniors will be Dec. 8th-11th graders have a chance to apply now! Refer to the website for info about this opportunity. https://okpromise.org

Athletic physicals will be in the high school gym, Monday, July 14th from 4:30-7:00. The cost is $25. We will have all the necessary documents, which do require parents signatures. Please note that drumline and cheer will also need physicals. They can get theirs at this time as well.

Please be aware that the buildings will be closed through the weekend due to the floors being waxed. This includes the gym areas. Workouts will still take place Wednesday and Thursday in the wellness center. Summer program will meet at the gates between the elementary and high school Thursday for our field trip.
