Welcome New Staff

Alex Public Schools would like to welcome two new staff members: Ms. Courtney Shaffer & Ms. Elizabeth Paulus to APS.

Ms. Courtney Shaffer is from Lindsay, Oklahoma; she is joining our staff as an elementary teacher. She graduated from Cameron University in December 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. In 2020, she returned to Cameron University, where she earned her Master of Education Degree in Reading. Ms. Shaffer went on to become a certified Reading Specialist. For the past seven years, she has taught Pre-K in Maysville, Oklahoma. Ms. Shaffer currently lives in Lindsay and has two cats, two dogs, and two horses. She loves being around her animals and family, and enjoys helping with her parents' cattle business. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, sewing, hiking with her boyfriend, and going on trail rides with her horses. She is thrilled about the opportunity to teach at Alex Public School, and looks forward to being part of the community.

Ms. Elizabeth Paulus was born in Lawton, Oklahoma. She started kindergarten at Community Christian School in Norman, Oklahoma, where she graduated in 2008. Ms. Paulus attended college at SWOSU in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and received an Associate of Science General Studies degree. Ms. Paulus was married in November 2010 to John Paulus, and they have two children together: Raelyn and Waden. After supporting her husband's dream of becoming a firefighter, she returned to school and earned an Associate of Respiratory Care degree from OCCC. She has worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Norman Regional Hospital for the past nine years. Ms. Pualus will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts, with a minor in Psychology, in December 2025, while working as a paraprofessional at Alex Public School. She plans to sit for her teacher certification in the Summer of 2026. Her hobbies include her children’s activities, crafting, leading Bible studies, gardening, and reading.
