Cheer News: The Alex cheerleaders attended the All Stars Cheer and Dance camp at Weatherford on June 2-3, 2009. After working hard on their cheer skills, Brittany and Kristen received awards for Best Senior Cheer Captains, Courtney and Kristin received Best Dancer awards, Terra received the award for Best Stunt Base, Maci received the Best Flyer award and Ann was awarded Best Stunt Back Spot. The cheerleaders held a garage sale / bake sale fundraiser on June 13, 2009, on Main Street in Alex. The girls worked hard and Alex residents were generous in their support. Reba Shaw of Ninnekah (Alex Class of 1946) donated many, many dozens of her premiere homemade cookies and three butterscotch pecan pies that brought top dollar. Donna Otey of Alex (Alex Class of 1964) donated a cake and cookies that had customers bidding against one another. Faye Hess of Alex (longtime Alex Elementary Teacher) also donated delectable fresh-baked goods that residents of Alex and surrounding communities purchased and ate on the spot. The cheerleaders would like to thank everyone for their support, including Alex residents John and Buanita Woods, who made a very generous donation. The cheer squad looks forward to leading the Alex student body through another successful and exciting year! |
