New faces join Alex School faculty for 2009-2010 school year.

Welcome aboard!

Alex Elementary School welcomes new Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Mary Cagle.  Cagle is from Rush Springs, where she was previously a teacher’s aide. She attended college at USAO in Chickasha. Cagle has one son and four beautiful grandchildren. When asked why she wanted to come to Alex to teach, she replied, “My husband and I thought it was a nice small community and that I might want to teach here.” Mrs. Cagle’s hobbies include reading, sewing and gardening. She explained her choice to work with younger children: “[They] are so impressionable and they need someone who cares.”Bill Delaplain of Wynnewood is also new to the Alex faculty and will teach elementary special education as well as coaching Middle School students, High School baseball and Middle School and High School fast pitch softball.

Mr. Delaplain grew up in Pauls Valley and attended East Central University in Ada. He is married and has three adult children. After college Delaplain moved to Wynnewood where he spent 27 years working for Oklahoma's Department of Human Services.

This year is Mr. Delaplain's first to work in public school. He wants to teach in order to help people. When asked why he came to Alex, Delaplain stated, “ I was looking for a small town with a small student body”. <

Mr. Delaplain enjoys photography, rappelling, tennis, camping and water sports. His big plans for the future include teaching for 10 to 15 years.

Joy Taylor of Chickasha has accepted the position of Alex School Counselor. Ms. Taylor will assist Alex students from grades Pre-K through 12.

Joy Taylor comes to Alex from the small town of Byng, OK, located near Ada. Taylor graduated from East Central University and has worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in Chickasha for the past ten years.  When asked why she wanted to become a counselor, Taylor responded, “Because I like working with teenagers.”

Ms. Taylor has two sons, Connor and Peyton, and a dog named Taco. Her hobbies include reading, spending time with her family and watching her sons play sports.

Does Ms. Taylor have any big plans for Alex? “Yes, I have lots of big plans for this new year, one in particular is assisting students in finding more scholarships.” <

Taylor is excited about the upcoming year.
